Don’t we all love a beautiful scenery? Admit it.. We’re a die hard nature-lover people. From gorgeous sunsets to the bluest ocean, we have a soft spot for incredible landscapes and seascapes.
Most of us, including me, will go to lengths just to see nature at its finest. I’ve trekked to witness the sea of clouds. Learned to swim and mustered up my courage to put on a snorkeling mask (speaking from someone who was literally almost afraid of everything unfamiliar) to see gorgeous corals.
Woke up super early in the morning to witness the sunrise. And of course, saved up and planned to travel and see places that are worth visiting.
I’ve had a lot of places in my ‘bucket list’ that I’m slowly ticking off. This includes visiting one of the Philippines’ most popular island: Palawan.
Admittedly, I still have to visit El Nido soon. It’s one of the three (3) municipalities (well, technically Puerto Princesa is categorized as a city. 🙂 ) that attracts tourists not only within the Philippines but internationally as well.
I can really see why that is so. Palawan’s natural wonders are a sight to behold and are definitely a must-see.
I’ll have to see if my husband/ travel buddy/ photographer/ videographer is game for the long road trip from Puerto Princesa to El Nido, though. He’s pretty much game to anything except sitting down for hours on a bus or a van or a car. LOL.
For the meantime, I’d like to take you on a virtual journey why I love Palawan and why it’s been on my bucket list. And why people from around the world wants to visit this gorgeous island.

Dos Palmas Island Resort and Spa
We had the chance to stay for a couple of nights in Dos Palmas Island Resort and Spa. It’s a privately owned island in Puerto Princesa. Over the years, it had its share of controversies. Nevertheless, there it is, still thriving and providing a beautiful island experience.
For me personally, it was the perfect retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the city. A private island getaway that will surely rejuvenate you.
Most of you probably know that we Filipinos love to sing. Regardless if singing loves us or not. LOL. Why am I telling you this? Well, because we had a ‘videoke’ session on one of the small cottages here one night. hahaha.
Because of the set-up, you can’t really disturb other guests which is a good thing.
Guests as they arrived from Puerto Princesa. The only way to get in and out of the island is through one of those boat.
We were taken on a 10-20 minutes boat ride to this area for our snorkeling trip. The corals were just amazing!

Puerto Princesa
Serving as the Island’s capital city, Puerto Princesa is home to the famed Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park. I’ve been to Puerto Princesa twice and it never failed to impress me.
Just had to include this as I love the silhouette and how dramatic the shot was. 🙂

While we waited for our group to be called during the Underground River Tour, we feasted our eyes (and yes, our phone. LOL) with the view!

Coron
Located in Northern Palawan, Coron is one of the country’s prime diving destination. We got to stay for a couple of days here. But I would surely love to go back and see more!

Every time I see photos of Palawan, I want to go more and more! How absolutely stunning. That water color is just amazing. Your accomodation looks amazing! I love bungalows and I’m sure those are much more affordable than the ones in Bora Bora and Maldives!

I really need to go back and see more of Palawan. I did a few nights in El Nido but definitely not enough cause I got sick right before getting there and didn’t feel well enough to go on any boats r anything.

Puerto Princesa and Coron look simply stunning! A true paradise on Earth! And the entrance to the underground river is so inviting. It reminds a bit of the caves we visited off the coast of Sicily and those in Vietnam. We’d love to visit the Philippines one day!

Your post reminds me of the first time I went snorkeling in the South China Sea near Redang Island in Malaysia. It was a moment that I would never forget – I could have never imagined the underwater world until I saw it with my own eyes.
Unfortunately, in India, we are not taught swimming in school so a lot of us miss out on underwater adventures. This is good reason to invest in learning to swim.
Just like you, we love nature and we have Palawan on the top of our bucket list! The Dos Palmas Island resort sounds like a good place to stay, especially because it’s so quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of the city, thank you!

Being one of the Philippines’ most visited islands, the locals are pretty used to and very friendly towards foreigners (Filipinos are generally very friendly and hospitable. 🙂 )..

And how about that Underground River! I went back to see your photo again. It seems a bit scary to enter it by boat, but I guess that it would be safe with people who do tours there and know the area. Would love to see what it looks like inside!
I learned swimming quite late, and I started snorkelling after I hit 30. But I know the apprehension that is associated with it and the fear of going underwater. Glad you had such a good time, I loved the photos and the write up.

When we went to the Palawan we visted Coron, Puerto Princesa and El Nido. We loved all three for the same reason you did. It’s a stunning place and we had some of the best snorkeling that I have ever done around Coron Island. I can’t wait to go back again.

A picture is worth a thousand words and these pictures are indeed a million words. They have captured the enchanting beauty of Palawan in vibrant colour. What a lovely place and these pictures propel me to get there as fast as possible.

My favourite color is aqua and all shades of aqua. I think Palawan will definitely fulfil my color palette requirement. I may just sit there doing nothing but drinking in the views. All day long.

Somehow I thought that Palawan is quite a touristic place and tried to avoid this place. But from your photos, I see that there are no one 😀 Is it because of low season or other reasons?
There were plenty of tourists, tbh, but just enough not to be too crowded.. 🙂 I think one of the reasons why it’s perfectly alright to go there during peak season (esp on summer) because there are plenty of things to do.. 🙂

Palawan is naturally beautiful and I agree one must surely visit here. Limestone cave and serene beaches what else you can ask for. Noted for my future travel.

Palawan is high on my list to visit. The sunset view at the top of Mt. Tapyas is stunning. Who doesn’t love sunsets?! The diving must be incredible out there. Dos Palmas Island Resort and Spa looks like the perfect place to relax.

Ah, Palawan! One of our favorite travel destinations. We’ve been to Puerto Princesa and El Nido. Gorgeous places! Our next target, perhaps next year, is Coron. We would love to scuba dive and explore the shipwrecks there. 🙂

You will make us fall in love with Phillipines ! My mum’s best friend is a Filipino. They are the sweetest and funniest people ever. We have plans of visiting Phillipines in near future (when the rates go down, lol). Palawan islands look stunning. I love the turquoise water and would love to do all adventure activities possible there. We had been thinking of going to Maldives and this looks as pretty as that to me.
